Who would have ever thought that a guy working in a pizza parlor could practically overnight become a household name and multi-millionaire unless he won the lottery? In this case - it was the infomercial lottery.
Donald Barrett, president of ITV is a rags to riches story. Barrett, a likable guy with a lot of horsepower, was quietly dwelling in the small MA community of Saugus, working at Prince Pizza and another job.
Donald found out about a then unknown product - coral calcium. Having belief in the product but no advertising experience, Donald scraped up every penny that he could so he could hire an infomercial host. Kevin Trudeau, America's well known infomercial king was the choice.
I don't know how much money Donald had to beg, borrow and scrape up but the then twenty something year old got the cash and in return Trudeau gave him a half hour of talk time with Robert Barefoot and his Coral Calcium product.
The show took off like a rocket - straight to the top. America was Coral Calcium crazy. Donald went from making pizzas to making money - a lot of money - practically overnight.
Coming Next - Donald takes to become an infomercial host and soon is marketing Dr. Day, Scott Kennedy and Sea Vegg and a Barley Green product. Does the pizza guy next door manage to succeed in the unknown territory of infomercials? What happens to Kevin Trudeau?
