My original entry is posted below.  Stay tuned this week as we look a little deeper into Donald W. Barrett and his rocket ride from making pizzas to making millions.  This 31 year old guy was basically an unknown guy who has a radar to find infomercial products that will make the phone ring.  Then he climbs behind his desk on his infomercial set and hosts a pretty good half hour infomercial.  What's interesting is that after hometown boy wonder does good, he pack up the family and move to Beverly - MA that is (not Hills).

You know, I need to give this guy a little credit - seriously folks - twenty somethin' year old pizza maker, makes it big, and we are talking BIG and he doesn't fly the coop to CA.  So - with justification of poetic license -

Come and listen to a story about a guy named Don
A workin' class guy, struggling to keep his family fed,
Then one day he was shootin Coral Calcium
And up through the lines came the ringing of phones

Infomercial response that is, black gold, Coral Calcium tea.

Well the first thing you know ol' Don's a millionaire,
Kinfolk said Don move away from there
Said somewhere else is the place you ought to be
So they loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.

MA, that is.
Atlantic Ocean, lobsters and Nick's roast beef.

Who would have ever thought that a guy working in a pizza parlor could practically overnight become a household name and multi-millionaire unless he won the lottery?  In this case - it was the infomercial lottery.

Donald Barrett, president of ITV is a rags to riches story.  Barrett, a likable guy with a lot of horsepower, was quietly dwelling in the small MA community of Saugus, working at Prince Pizza and another job.

Donald found out about a then unknown product - coral calcium.  Having belief in the product but no advertising experience, Donald scraped up every penny that he could so he could hire an infomercial host.  Kevin Trudeau, America's well known infomercial king was the choice.

I don't know how much money Donald had to beg, borrow and scrape up but the then twenty something year old got the cash and in return Trudeau gave him a half hour of talk time with Robert Barefoot and his Coral Calcium product.

The show took off like a rocket - straight to the top.  America was Coral Calcium crazy. Donald went from making pizzas to making money - a lot of money - practically overnight.

Coming Next - Donald takes to become an infomercial host and soon is marketing Dr. Day, Scott Kennedy and Sea Vegg and a Barley Green product.  Does the pizza guy next door manage to succeed in the unknown territory of infomercials?  What happens to Kevin Trudeau?
