The latest and, by far, largest buzz in the infomercial industry is Donald Barrett of Beverly, MA. Donald is the founder of ITV Direct and now ITV Ventures. One an infomercial behemoth and one an MLM (multi level marketing) rocket getting ready for take off.
Donald, soon to be 32 in October, is a quick thinking entrepreneur who has tapped into what looks like could be a once in a lifetime opportunity, for a select group of people.
Barrett spun a MLM company off of his infomercial company. Interesting concept - and it makes sense.
Donald Barrett and ITV Direct/ITV Global are spending about 1 million dollars a week in advertising on a variety of products such as Flex Protex, Almighty Cleanse, More Natural Cures Revealed and others.
Needless to say, if you're spending a million dollars a week in advertising - you're getting a few phone calls!
Not all customers buy the product right away. Some want literature requests. They prefer to think it over first.
In a perfect world, a salesman would then follow up later and answer any questions not answered by reading the literature and then close the sale.
ITV Direct is being flooded with calls daily so there's little time to get back to all these pending customers.
Realistically, they're only closing 5-25% (guesstimate) of the calls - so the other 75-95% are still not captured sales.
Here's where the brilliance of the MLM comes in. If you sign up to get in the MLM then you can get leads from ITV Direct/ITV Ventures. You can contact these people and close the sales.
Face it folks - this isn't rocket science.
It actually gets better yet. The wholesale price of the supplements is pretty generous. So you're selling products people want, have already called about and you make a decent profit.
There's more - Donald hasn't released this program to the public yet. That's set to happen Sept 30, in Peabody, MA.
Right now - it's pretty much the family and friends program - he's getting his family and friends in first and anyone they know. Which is pretty smart as they'll have the opportunity to make money - maybe a million - who knows.
I've always said - it's who you know - not what you know- that gets you the most.
